Le Chéile NS are delighted to have recieved a SFI STEM Plaque for the 2019-2020 academic year. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. This was very much a whole school project with every class getting involved. A special mention must go to Mrs Cassidy and Ms O’Sullivan for all their efforts in co-ordinating the project. Pupils were involved in numerous projects throughout the school year and have evolved as budding scientists, engineers, coders and much more. The school is proud of our ability to include all pupils in our projects and we stand by our slogan “Together We Achieve”.
The following is the feedback we received:

Here is some feedback on your Log of Evidence:
We wish to congratulate you on earning your Plaque of S.T.E.M.!
Lovely examination of fruit and seeds, followed up with bark rubbing. Enabling the students to think of possible outcomes for experiments has shown that children are actively engaging in your classes and using science in a practical way with kiwi DNA and transfer of bacteria. It is great to see this inquiry-based approach using slime, baking and mixing colours. I enjoyed seeing their hypotheses, diagrams and conclusions, and their ability to identify tree species.
Nice use of coding and Lego backed up with your visit to Microsoft. Well done on your work with the Maths trails, sugar investigations and use of graphs to display results. The show-and-tell of your ‘Think Before you Drink’ experiment was presented in way which was clear and understandable for all ages!
Well done to all at Le Chéile N.S.
Keep up the fantastic work!!!
The school would like to thank everyone for their involvement and we are already in the process of completing our 2020-2021 log of evidence.
