Le Chéile NS is currently in the process of applying for our Green Schools Travel flag. Mrs. McInerney has been working hard in devising a programme to best suit our school. We have also set up a students’ committee consisting of Ryan McNamara, Jade McCormack, Leroy Byrne, Reece Doherty, Colin Hogan, Charlie O’Mara and Willie Casey. Both Galvone NS and Southill Junior School had numerous Green Flags but this is the first time Le Chéile NS is applying for a flag.
Travel is the fourth theme of the Green-Schools programme. The Travel theme is funded by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and supported by the National Transport Authority. The ultimate aim of the theme is to increase the number of students walking, cycling, scooting, using public transport or carpooling on the way to school.
We are focusing on travel and trying to increase the amount of children who walk to school. keep an eye out over the coming weeks for some exciting projects.
